Chippewa Sponsors Event- Dr. Michael Thompson, Ph.D.

Chippewa Ranch Camp (along with Tamarak Day Camp & the Community Parent Network of the Stevenson High School Foundation) is proud to sponsor an event next Tuesday the 21st of October. Michael Thompson, Ph.D, is an internationally acclaimed psychologist and best-selling author of youth development books, including the New York Times best-seller, Raising Cain. He will give two presentations next Tuesday that you wont want to miss! The event is totally free of charge, and is sure to be informative and entertaining. I have personally seen Dr. Thompson speak at camp conferences, and he is both dynamic and thought-provoking.

The title of his morning and evening presentation is “The Pressured Student: Helping Your Student Find Success in School & Life,” and it promises to give parents a candid glimpse into their child’s highly charged and often times emotionally strenuous day-to-day existence. As a camp director, I cannot stress the significance of this issue enough. Again, this session will be done in the morning and repeated in the evening.

His midday session is called “Best Friends Worst Enemies,” and it tackles the complex social dynamic faced daily by today’s youth. He will discuss “cliques,” social climbing, friendship development, and why true friendship is so critical to a child’s success in all facets of life.
