My name is Shira and this will be my 7th summer at Chippewa. I am from Highland Park, IL and am currently a sophomore at Highland Park High School. Outside of camp, I like to dance. I am part of the Jammers dance team at HPHS, as well as the dance show there too. I am also a committee head leader in the Student Senate club at school, as well as a leader for the Harold E. Eisenberg foundation, raising money for gastrointestinal cancer research. I find it very important to be a leader in both the club and the organization so that I can mentor others in order for us all to make positive change and impact in our world. One thing not a lot of people know about me is that I have a fear of thunderstorms. I am also very fast at the Piccolomini challenge- I even won the 2019 competition on the first night of camp!
This summer at camp, I will be teaching sailing. I like teaching this activity because I think everyone should be able to enjoy the experience of being out on Dam Lake in a sailboat. My favorite camp meal is BBQ and my favorite Cathy’s flavor is Pirate’s Booty. Tan and White games are my favorite Evening Programs because I love the friendly competition between the two teams. I love being a Chippy because I get to spend my summers in the most amazing place with the most amazing people who all love and care for one another. I am most excited for the summer of 2020 because I get a new experience of having my own campers and co-counselors, which I have never had before.
