Chippewa has many different special programs to keep you having a blast all summer long. In the next few pages we will introduce you to some of our highlights. Remember that these are only a few of the programs that Chippewa has to offer. Flip to the next page to learn about Tan & White!
Tan and White!
This is the most popular and spirited part of our program! Ask a current or former camper about Tan and White and her eyes will light up. Here's how it works: When you get to camp you will be put on either the Tan or the White team at random, unless you have a sister who's already been to Chippewa, in which case you'd be placed on your sister's team. Once you are put on a team you are on it for life! That means that every summer that you return to camp (or not) you will be on that same team! Pretty cool, huh? Turn the page to learn about some of the great activites and games that go along with this exciting program!
Tan and White
Capture the Flag- This is a Chippewa Favorite and due to popular demand, will be happening both sessions of camp next summer! Many of you have played before, but maybe not over the entire landscape of a summer camp. Pretty cool! Barn Yard Bedlam- This game is off the wall. Try and understand: You get a line to say, an action to perform and a field full of candy to seek out. The winner wins. Got it? Good! Sports Night- This night is devoted to the ol' standards; softball, soccer, basketball, football etc... This event is worth plenty in points, but more in fun! Song Fest- This is a very important part of the Tan and White tradition. You will have to see it in order to truly understand it, but know that this is the way we continue to appreciate old Tan and White cheers as well as generate new ones.
Tan and White!
Stalk the Lantern- Also a popular program at Chippewa! This game happens at night and is played in almost total darkness. We even schedule it for a night with no moon! Dont worry...you will be with your cabin and it happens in a wide open field. You'll love it! Pony Express- This is the final major Tan and White event of the summer. One long relay race that ends with a watermellon and a canoe. The Egg Marathon- You will have to come first session to see this new Tan and White counter part to Pony Express! These were just some of the great Tan and White programs!
Special Days
Our two biggest special days are United Nations Day 1st session and Kahuna Day 2nd session. There are many more to enjoy during the summer! United Nations Day- On this day the camp is split up into four different Nations. They compete throughout the day in various different activities and events. At the end of the day, the winning team gets a trip to the famous Cathy's Ice Cream shop! Kahuna Day- This will be the most tropical day of your life! Like U.N.Day, the camp is split up into four teams. The teams names all have some tropical theme. The events of the day are unique in quality and the program certainly holds its own against it's United Nations Day counterpart. Dont worry...the prize in the end is the same!
Evening Programs
Every night we offer a different evening program. One of the many jobs of our program director is to keep these nights fun and exciting!
