Dear Chippewa Parents,
And so begins another session of Chippewa camping! The second four weeks are off to a phenomenal start! Somehow we have been able to dodge this daily threat of thunderstorm ugliness. If you have an I-Phone and plug Eagle River, WI into the weather APP, you’ll likely see what I do…. Rain, rain and more rain. Truth is that none of that threatened rain has actually touched down here. We seem to be avoiding it somehow or another! We had a whole lineup of great “Rainy Day” programming that we’ve been fortunate enough to avoid 8-)
We loved seeing so many of you over visiting weekend and we always like showing off our outstanding staff and counselors. The weather was unfortunate, but we hope that you were still able to get a feel for camp and enjoy the beautiful Northwoods of Wisconsin. The many letters of thanks and kind words that followed the weekend were a great testament to the fact that
your daughters are gaining the experience that you were hoping for. We (and the staff) truly appreciate the recognition. I will be reading some of the complimentary letters at our next staff meeting! Please keep them coming, as this kind of feedback is great for our program improvement and staff motivation!
The weeks ahead are sure to be great! Below I have listed some of what has been and what is yet to come here in Chippyland. The second session calendar is action packed to the point where we can’t figure out how we’re going to get everything in!
Sunday- The first night of camp brought our traditional friendship fire. We sang songs, did a “Talking Contest” (which Izzy B. from Cleveland won), veteran campers and staff stood up and discussed the value of their years at Chippewa and the second session campers were given a BIG welcome!
Monday- The girls were swim tested, placed into activities and tried out for our musicals. This summer it looks like the musicals will be Cinderella for the younger girls and High school Musical 3 for the older campers! The cast and crew are VERY excited. That evening the girls participated in their very first Tan & white program of the session (Water Games). Check out the photos!
Tuesday- The first day of activities were great! The girls were out and about skiing, swimming, climbing, riding, fishing and playing all kinds of sports! Last night was Staff Olympics. The staff was at their silliest and most entertaining… no doubt about that. The cabin of Horseshoe won the evening!
Tonight- Lip Synch!
Thursday- Sorry… it’s a secret *-)
Friday- C-C & Bowed Legs will be putting on a great campfire.
Saturday- Sorry… also a secret *-)
Sunday- Cabin day and an all Camp trip to Minocqua!
Monday- Great entertainment by Patti Katz Black!
And there you have it! Next week will bring more news and more excitement. Parents please be sure to check the photos and enjoy camp with us regularly! We know this is going to be an out of this world 4-weeks!
All best,
Cliff
