Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,
I am happy to report that at the end of our first full day at CRC, we have a camp filled with happy Chippies. Our day was busy and we are now officially ready for activities to begin tomorrow. For details on the fun we had, please continue reading…
This morning we had rotations which consisted of cabins visiting swimming, riding, tennis, among other areas of camp. It gave campers a chance to try a couple of activities and learn about others in preparation for signing up for their first set of activities. Campers were eager to meet the new horses, jump on the tramps and swim in the lake for the first time this summer. This afternoon, everybody signed up for activities…campers were excited to know just how their schedules would look…and I have to say that I was impressed with the planning that went into deciding which activities to take and when.
After sign-ups, cabins headed to the basketball courts for an amazing program led by Jessica Jaksich. There were thirteen Minute to Win It challenges all over the court and campers loved it. From moving Skittles with a straw to knocking down a can pyramid with rubberbands, the activities were a blast. Campers were trying to complete each task within a minute and as I walked around from station to station, it was fun to see everyone cheering on their cabinmates. A successful challenge completed within a minute was rewarded with a raffle ticket and at the end of the program, campers got to choose which prize they wanted to go for. Jillian W won a double scoop of ice cream from Cathy’s while Stephanie S won a cabin pizza party…I would say those are pretty good ways to start off a camp career!
Tonight was the opening of Tan and White and it was awesome! Campers found out which team they were on, learned cheers and voted on the Sachems (captains) for their teams. The 2018 Neutrals, Sara Moss, Eliza Levy and Ari Kohn, did a wonderful job planning the night. They put together a creative and empowering skit reminding us all of the importance of embodying the Chippewa Compass- that while Tan & White is a summer-long competition, demonstrating kindness, fortitude, confidence and integrity will ultimately be what guides each of us to success. It was an incredibly spirited night, and an excellent kick-off to one of the most popular programs at CRC.
And there you have it, we truly had a fun-filled day at #TheRanch2018. While today was definitely a good one, I think it is safe to say that everyone is looking forward to getting into the typical routine starting tomorrow. I hope you all have a wonderful night- don’t forget to check back soon :).
Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
